LOGLINE

Kendall, an insecure college student, falls into her first serious relationship with a charming young man whose unresolved trauma turns affection into control, forcing her to confront the painful truth and find the strength to reclaim her voice before she loses herself completely.

SYNOPSIS

Kendall is a bright but deeply insecure college student longing for love, validation, and a sense of belonging. When she meets Trey, his charm and attention make her feel seen in ways she never has before. Their relationship quickly becomes her safe space until subtle shifts in Trey’s behavior begin to emerge.

As his unresolved childhood trauma surfaces, Trey’s affection turns into control, and control slowly escalates into emotional manipulation and moments of frightening violence. Torn between the love she once believed in and the fear she now feels, Kendall struggles to hold onto her sense of self while navigating a relationship that is quietly breaking her down.

Isolated and unsure of her worth, Kendall must confront the reality of her situation and find the courage to reclaim her voice, recognize her value, and break free from a cycle that threatens to define her.

MORE ABOUT THE PROJECT

Silent Scars is a psychological drama that follows Kendall, a bright but deeply insecure college student who finds herself in her first real relationship with Trey, a charming young man who gives her the attention and affection she has longed for. Afraid to lose the love she’s finally found, Kendall ignores the subtle shifts in Trey’s behavior as his unresolved childhood trauma begins to surface.

What starts as warmth and safety slowly turns into manipulation and, eventually, moments of frightening violence. Torn between the love she once believed in and fear, Kendall struggles to find her voice in a relationship and an environment where she feels small and unseen.

Through Kendall’s journey, Silent Scars explores the emotional complexity of abusive relationships, the difficulty of speaking up, and the quiet pressures of identity and belonging as a Black woman navigating spaces where she often feels alone. Ultimately, the film highlights the importance of recognizing signs, reclaiming your voice, standing firm in your worth, and having the courage to break harmful cycles.
